Artist Statement
I create some traditional works in the nature of retablos in a very NON-traditonal way. I enjoy creating images in a fun and whimsical way, focusing on their expressions to relate traditional devotions. Finished retablos with their bright colors and expressions never fail to bring a smile. I want people to look at them, read the image's expression to begin understanding his story and find some humor in its portrayal.
Biography
I recently received a Bachelor's Degree from Northern New Mexico College in Business and Program Management. I am now employed at the Los Alamos National Bank. The retablos and bultos that I create are far from traditional. I love to see people smile at my depictions of the popular "santos." I was raised in El Rito around people in the community whose love for the art was clearly evident in all the art you would see every year at the El Rito Studio Tour.
